Who Exafy is
Exafy is a learning app that helps you get ready for English exams like IELTS, PTE, OET, and STEP. It is built by a small team of teachers and software engineers. The company is called Exafy Ltd and it is based in the United Kingdom.
What we collect
Here is the kind of information Exafy keeps about you. Each one helps the app work for you.
- Your name and email — so we can sign you in and send you important messages about your account.
- Your learning level (for example: B1 or B2) — so lessons match where you are.
- Your answers and scores — so we can show your progress and give you feedback.
- What you write or speak when you practise writing or speaking tasks — so the app can grade them.
- Basic device information like which browser you used — so the app works properly and we can fix bugs.
Why we use it
We use your information to help you practise English, see your progress, remember your learning level, and give you helpful feedback. That’s the whole point of the app. We only ask for information we actually need to run the learning service.
Who can see your information
Only you and the small Exafy team can see your information. Sometimes we use trusted companies (like the company that sends our emails, or the one that hosts the website) to do specific jobs for us. They are not allowed to use your information for anything else.
If a parent or teacher set up your account for you, they may also see some of your progress so they can support your learning. The main Privacy Policy explains exactly who and when.
How AI feedback works
When you write an essay or speak an answer, Exafy uses an AI grader to give you a score and feedback. Your writing or speaking is sent to a trusted AI partner just to grade it. The AI partner is not allowed to use your work to train new AI models, and your work is not sold or shared with anyone else.
AI graders are not perfect — sometimes the feedback is wrong or confusing. If something feels off, ask a teacher, parent, or guardian to double-check.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your information for behavioural advertising— meaning we don’t follow you around the internet with ads based on what you do in Exafy.
- We do not show ads inside Exafy at all.
- We do not share your information with anyone outside the people who help run the app — unless we are required to by law or by your school, or unless we are worried about your safety.
Your choices and rights
You (or a parent or guardian, if you are under 18) can ask us to:
- Show you what information we have about you.
- Correct anything that’s wrong.
- Delete your account and information.
- Stop using your information for a particular purpose.
To make a request, email us at info@exafy.ai from the email on your account, or ask a parent, guardian, or teacher to email for you. You can read the full list of rights in the main Privacy Policy.
How to ask for help
If you have any privacy question — for example “what info does Exafy have about me?” or “can you delete my data?” — email info@exafy.aiwith the subject line “Privacy question”. We’ll write back in plain language.
If something feels unsafe
If anything inside Exafy makes you feel uncomfortable, scared, or unsafe — or if something is wrong with the content of a lesson — tell a trusted adult (parent, guardian, or teacher) straight away. You or the adult can also email info@exafy.aiwith the subject line “Safety” and we will look into it.
Exafy is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services and tell a trusted adult right now.
You can also read our full Safety Policy for more about how we keep the app safe for learners.
Note for parents, guardians, and teachers
This page is a plain-language summary written for younger learners. It is not a replacement for the main Privacy Policy, which carries the legal detail required by UK GDPR Articles 13–14 (named processors, lawful bases, retention periods, international transfers, complaint route to the ICO, etc.).
If you have a question, complaint, or formal data-subject request on behalf of a learner under your care, please email info@exafy.ai. We aim to acknowledge requests within two working days.
